Construction continues at Fells Point Station in Baltimore.  In the photo above, you can see the historic 1920’s police station at the right, reinforced with temporary steel supports. To the left is a Baltimore landmark “Scratch’n’Dent” store.    The columns mark the front of the retail space on Broadway. We are on-target for an estimated completion date of November 2013. The rehabilitation of the historic MM Washington School to create House of Lebanon, a senior affordable housing development, is progressing well in Washington.    This month, steel framing was installed in the 1970s building, while close-in inspections have begun on the historic section of the project. Estimated Completion: November 2013. Construction at the historic Fells Point police station is well underway.
A former police station built in the 1920s, Fells Point Station is located at 1621 Bank Street in Upper Fells Point, Baltimore's oldest waterfront neighborhood. This urban renewal, residential project involves the rehabilitation of the historic building, with new construction of a four-story wood framed addition with a brick façade to complement the existing structure. The building will provide 47 apartment units above a concrete pedestal with retail space below. Fells Point Station is a transit-oriented development with public transportation available to the front door. Additionally, there will be indoor parking provided for tenants. Other amenities include a lobby, clubroom, high speed internet access, and an exercise room. An elevated courtyard will provide common space and is also a green roof structure which will cover the parking and hardscape areas. The project received 9% funding and loan funds from Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development. Additional financing sources include historic tax credit equity and funds provided by the City of Baltimore’s Department of Housing.
