The SeVerna: A Showcase for Affordable Housing

Yesterday, the National Low Income Housing Coalition and Fighting Poverty with Faith held a press conference at The SeVerna to highlight the need for affordable housing and demonstrate how the National Housing Trust Fund could help create decent housing and improve communities across the country. Ms. Washington, a SeVerna resident, shared how an affordable home at The SeVerna has changed her life.

The SeVerna was selected for this event because it is an example of high-quality housing development that would fit well into many communities across the country, and the fact that it was developed by a church clearly shows the role of people of faith in fighting poverty. The SeVerna is also in a neighborhood with a rich history, active resident groups and service organizations, and a real need for more housing that very low income people can afford.
